3 weeks today

So Ben is 3 weeks old today. We're still staying in the house pretty much, per the doctor's recommendation, but we have had a few trips out to Carmel and a few trips on the rec trail & Ben has done an excellent job on all outings. We're having a ton of fun with him & learning more and more each day. In the 3 weeks we've had Ben in our lives, we've learned a few things...

1. If showering, shaving or eating were an olympic sport, we'd be gold medalists.

2. Diaper changing is a sport, especially with a little boy. He may not have any control but his aim and distance are stellar.

3. Sleep isn't a necessity, it is a luxury. On a side note, Ben's nap time is worth a gold coin for each minute.

4. How can you love someone so much when you've only known them for 3 weeks?!?

5. Grandparents are a God send... our aching biceps would definitely agree.

6. "Schedule" is now a 4 letter word. Well, actually, it is non-existent. No such thing. Nada. Zippo. Well, except for the 1:45am & 4:45am wake up calls each morning.

That's it for now... Off to go play with our little man. Jeff has the week off next week so he can spend time with his 'mini me.' Ciao from the Bolger household!

2 1/2 Week Update

Somehow Ben's almost 3 weeks old... as tired as we are, the time sure has flown. Here is the latest and greatest from his appointment last Friday with Dr. Dwelle:
Height/Length : 21 1/2 inches (same as birth height/length)
Weight : a whopping 9lbs, 6oz (birth weight 8lbs, 15oz; weight 4 days after birth 8lbs, 2oz)
Head Circumfrence : 38 inches
Favorite activites : eating & sleeping
All is looking good in the world of Ben. He is snoozing as we speak/type which means Jeff & Jen are enjoying their morning coffee & a shower.
Have a great day!

Ben's 1st Trip to the Beach

It was a chilly day but Ben braved the Carmel elements and took his first (of many) trips to the beach.

Ben and Olivia finally meet!

Pat and Shannon (the Boulder Bolgers) came to visit this weekend and Ben was able to meet his cousin Olivia for the first time. We had a great time eating lunch and enjoying a sunny day in Carmel on Saturday and playing back at the house in the evening.

Really good to see you guys, can't wait 'til Christmas in the Desert!

Here's another video!

Ben's One Week Anniversary

Today is Ben's one week anniversary. No clue how this week has gone so quickly. Oh, wait, that's right... Feeding every 2 hours, Diaper Changes, Burping and then finding time to shower, eat and last but not least, sleep. But, we're greatful for every second & loving our little man.

Ben gets to meet his uncle PJ, Aunt Shannon & Cousin Olivia this weekend. We're so excited for the 2 babies to meet & start to get to know each other because there will be many 'Bolger Fests' in the future so we are laying the ground work now for a fabulous friendship... we're just hoping Ben doesn't sleep through their visit... he tends to sleep a good majority of the day and decides it is his 'day time' around 10:00 or 11:00pm.

Just about time to feed Ben again... the cycle starts again! Cheers until next update!

Ben Sleeping Viedo

Many of you might not appreciate this as much as Jen and I... This is just a one minute video of Ben Sleeping. Just wanted to test out the video capabilities of blogspot, (and my imax heli-cam and video editing skills) Watch out Sundance, here I come!

More Photos of Ben!

Hi Everyone its Jeff, I finally have an opportunity to play around with a few of the 250 pictures I've taken. Here are a few, and many more to come.

All is well with Jen and Ben. Both are sleeping soundly together as I type. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and best wishes! The three of us are truly blessed to have such wonderful family and friends!

Welcome to the World, Ben Bolger!

The last few days were long and tiresome but beyond worth it. Induction began Tuesday afternoon, around 3:00pm, and by 9:00pm Wednesday, it was pretty clear that a C-Section was necessary. So... long story short, Ben entered the world via C-Section on Wednesday night at 9:45pm weighing a whopping 8 lbs, 15 ounces and measuring 21 1/4 inches long. We're still in the hospital through Saturday so stay tuned for more pictures and updates. Cheers to Benjamin Arthur Bolger!

Induction Begins!

We just got back from the doctor's office... all signs point to baby being ready to come... today! So... we're meeting Dr. Brewster in the hospital this afternoon to start an induction. She'll be starting with a 'ripening' agent to get the uterus etc 'ripe' and ready for contractions - this could take up to 12 hours. If contractions haven't started at that point, then she'll go for Pitosin, the contraction inducing shot (which is totally safe & most of my friends have had it with no bad side effects)... So... baby Bolger will most likely be born today or tomorrow.

We're both pretty excited - Jeff is like a rock, he is so excited and comforting and a fabulous support. I'm a bit nervous but mostly just in shock that the next time we come home, we'll have our little man.

Stay tuned... we'll be updating the blog as this little story develops.
